"It was an unexpected treat to catch Israeli band the Apples at the end of their storming set at Cargo. With four horns, bass, drums and turntables, their oddly effective mix of instrumental hip-hop and soul-jazz got the crowd dancing and jumping, while giving listeners plenty to latch on to."
-John L Waters - The Guardian, London
Summer 2009 will see The Apples descending upon club and festival stages in Europe and their native Israel, delivering their signature explosive live experience.
Hot off their latest Freestyle Records release- “The Power” E.P.- which includes a treatment of Snap’s 1993 classic smash, the suggestively titled “Upskirt” and their club-shattering version of “Killing in the name…”- the latter appearing on 12” vinyl for the first time.
Over the past Seven years the nine-strong instrumental group has been folding cuts and scratches from every imaginable source into Big Band blares and Middle Eastern elements on top of a raw funk base, baking a thick multi-layered sonic treat.
Keeping true to their origins as a spontaneous composition ensemble, they kick ideas up and down the stage in a torrent of Decks, Horns, Double Bass, Drums and Electronic Effects. No digital samplers, no guitars or keyboards and no safety net as the arrangements are reinvented on the spot and the roles of solo and backing instruments change at the blink of an eye to any of the nine members.
The powerful sound has also reverberated on dance floors, televisions, radios and films worldwide. Courtesy of the 7” singles- “Attention!” and the aforementioned “Killing” and the “Buzzin’ About” and “Attention!” L.Ps. The success of these releases also fuels frequent sold out European visits, at which the audience dance, laugh, sweat (almost) as much as the band does from the first adrenalized downbeat to the last unison hit.
Expect the unexpected as the boys march forward. Digging deeper into their countless influences and resurfacing with genre-melting, ear-turning, booty-shaking groove music.

COOLOOLOOSH

After a massive tour in the US and Canada, the funky band is coming to the tower of david.
In 2003, six extremely talented musicians from Jerusalem, Israel, and around the world, found each other and came together to form one of the most unique and dynamic forces in the music world as we know it today.
Suitability named “Coolooloosh”, a Jerusalemite word for celebration and joy, this is precisely what the band exhumes with each and every exciting performance.
Coolooloosh combining Hip Hop, Rap, Jazz, and Funk, and it’s one of Israel’s most popular groups.

LOS CAPAROS

Los Caparos are a genuine proof of successful mixing of different cultures, languages and musical styles. Starting their musical career in 2004 by playing in pubs and clubs, closely associated with the Russian community of Tel-Aviv, the band has quickly found a way into the hearts of the native Israeli audience as well.
The combination of the Russian temperament and the Israeli sun has created a fresh, new and unique blend of Ska, Reggae, Dub, Jungle and World Music in Russian, Hebrew and English, and made the music of Los Caparos truly international.
The band`s staff is also multicultural, as it includes both native Israeli and
Russian speaking musicians. Some of Los Caparos members are well known in the Israeli music scene and take part in different musical projects, such as The Apples, Avi Leibovich Orchestra and Reggaestan to name a few. MC Goga is one of the leading figures of the Israeli drum`n`bass scene.
During 2006 Los Caparos have recorded their debut album "Rasta Vasily" co-produced with Beno Hendler - an independent Israeli music maker, which has worked with Berry Saharof, Tomer Yosef, Adam Ben-Lavi (Fishi the Big), Balkan Beat Box and others.
